When should you use a space heater in a motor?

You should use space heaters in climates and applications where there is a chance of high relative humidity when the motor is not running. When warm, humid air comes in contact with a cold motor, it causes condensation that can lead to accelerated deterioration of motor parts. The most common method of combating condensation is by installing small space heaters inside the motor. You can install space heaters in the field by removing the brackets and wrapping the strip heaters around the winding end turns.
